Strangely free.

I skipped Wendy’s for some work and then I cooked myself some pasta. All the carbohydrates are making me really sleepy and I think I’m going to catch a couple of winks after I click publish.

It’s been a surreal month. I’m still trying to make sense of what happened to me in the past 30 days. I feel like a new person, more confident, no longer a fraud.

Speaking of which, have you ever felt like a fraud? People believing in you 100% and you’re scared shitless because you do not want to break their hopes and trust, and you can’t for the life figure out why people are believing in a punk….like me. I’m not a punk anymore.

Anyway, Anything Butterfly Photography Contest was covered by The Sun and Utusan Malaysia and here are the clippings. I am so glad that this contest is being given support by the local press.

My boo fixed my EeePC for Internet connection using Nokia N82 as a modem. I hope Nokia will come out with Linux compatible PC Suite because not everyone is an open source whiz or has an open source whiz for bf like me. He also installed the advanced desktop so it feels less n00bish, couldn’t really stand the large icons anyway. All I need is a large capacity sdhc and I’m good to go :) Ultimate mobility ftw!

Thinking whether to go to MDG tonight, love to try taking some model pictures. Hmm, see how lah!

Birthday came early, thank you! :)

Errr sorry I can’t stop gloating about my Eee PC :)

It is so light, totally unbelievable! I was chatting on MSN at my apartment carpark (still within my wifi area), one hand holding laptop and the other hand typing……standing up, ok.

Check out the comparison…

Eee PC vs Lenovo
Eee PC vs Lenovo. Pretty amazing, no?

So I had a panic attack just before the event. 4 out of 5 laptops ordered for the event didn’t work properly, girls haven’t arrived, one of the two big screens for the football matches was a little whacky, venue management tried to change my tray serving to buffet line etc etc etc.

I got home to freshen up after setup and I just couldn’t put on my makeup properly and then I put on so much I looked like a panda then I couldn’t find my phone and some documents and I was so sure I would forget to bring something. Basically I was just running around the apartment trying to fix some imaginary problems and I was hyperventilating while doing so. And I sweat so much my makeup ran I when I saw myself in the mirror, I burst out crying and I felt like the sky was going to fall on top of me. Hahaha.

Anyway, I redo my makeup while still hyperventilating and my pimples seemed abnormally larger than normal and I started crying again. And then makeup ran again, I had to redo my makeup while time was ticking away.

Finally, I reached the venue and found my supplier (and friend, Mike from Xpert Events. Please contact him for your events, he’s the best!) had brought in the replacement laptops and my client was just happily testing them. No one even noticed that I was late due to my panic attack episode heh.

Anyway, everything went so well. My emcee for the night, Liang was absolutely a riot! He’s amazing to work with, very professional, accommodating and best of all, he got the crowd going! :)

So during the half time of Birmingham vs Liverpool, my client asked me to go to the stage to assist the Regional Manager with his speech, so I went lah. And then I was waiting there and the r. manager went up to talk and then suddenly he started to express thank and gratitude for people who’ve made the event a success and then he called me up the stage.

I was like, alamak ok..didn’t see it coming. And then I saw him holding a box and I still didn’t register it cause I’m shortsighted remember? And then, I saw it, the words Asus Eee PC. I screamed, “OH MY GOD YOU GAVE ME AN EEE PC!!!!”. You can try for yourself, trust me it’s very high pitch heh.

Me getting an Eee PC.
Hehehe, omg look at my jawline. So tensed from grinning too long and hard hahaha. Picture from Mike Yip.

I did not suspect anything. It was a real surprise. I almost cried on stage but held my tears back. And I’ve never been properly surprised in my life. It felt really good :)

It’s a gift of something I secretly wanted for quite sometime and in the colour I wanted. My client even took the liberty to jack up the ram to 1gig. Don’t I have the best client in the world, you tell me? :)

All I did was debating about how an Eee PC would have pwn his Mac Book Air (which honestly, is really one of the most amazing stuff I’ve seen!) and he thoughtfully got me one!

:)
Happy camper. Picture from Mike Yip.

Thanks everyone from Lasseters especially the director, you know who you are la!

My latest horrifying experience.

I have an event tomorrow, football related. Going to be loads and loads of fun. I even got a little football goal and baby footballs for some mini contests tomorrow.

Trying to draft some emcee script with my crap knowledge in football. Help anyone?

Anyway, I thought I was not going to blog but well, girl needs to de-stress a little.

I just splurged RM600 on a Canon all-in-one. OMG I’m in love, I can’t stop scanning documents…..

Canon Pixma MX318

A printer now, maybe an office soon? :D

Oh yes about my blog title. Damn it I thought I almost lost a big toe.

I was just moving back and forth with my office chair and then suddenly I felt an intense pain around my big toe.

I looked down…and CRAP.

Stuck big toe.

My right big toe was stuck between the two wheels of a roller! MOFO it was damn painful.

So I tried to yank my toe out but it was stuck. And I panicked for a moment.

“SHIT I CAN’T WORK WITH 9 TOES TOMORROW!”? Then I started to whimper by myself (no tears yet) and then an idea struck me.

I lifted up the bloody chair and voila, my toe popped out…albeit a little sore.

I still have 10 toes thank you very much. And I think I’m gonna go put on a pair of socks :P

Some of you who are bloggers may be affiliated with Nuffnang and we gently urge you to go to your Nuffnang dashboard, then Blog Manager and change your Ad Preference to “Show Charity Ads”. This only means that the charity ad banner will appear if you have no paid ad banners at the moment.

World Lupus Day

ANYTHING Butterfly is the first of many pro-bono projects under KimKomm and I want to thank all the sponsors for making this possible. I admit, when I picked this project up, I had very little understanding about Lupus and I did not know of anyone with the condition. Only when I’ve started to spread the word about this event that I’ve discovered that I have friends who are living with Lupus, whether affecting them directly or their loved ones. I’m really honoured to be part of this event and hopefully more people will know about this illness after.

Faster & cheaper Internet connection is no longer a dream.

OMG do you remember how it was streaming video on dial-up?? The memories are still fresh. One of my first online videos….I think I was trying to watch the trailer of Golden Chicken, the funniest Hong Kong movie of that year and it was so painful. The video, which I had diligently clicked “small size” for optimum streaming on dial-up had remained pixelated and truncated. And since it was small in size, I might as well watched the trailer through a cracked glass.

And then, broadband internet arrived, changed my life forever. Okay, not that quickly really. I had a hard time trying to get an account in my area, Cheras, ladies and gentlemen. Imagine the horror I went through. All those agents I spoke to said they couldn’t be sure when the port or something like that would be opened in Cheras. It was like a fruitless wait. Seemed like I was the only fast internet fiend in town, so sad. But one day, my dream came true. They activated me account and I was on Streamyx baby. I’m glad the worst is over, these days everyone can have their ports or something opened in their areas and have speeding net connections at whim.

To be honest, Dad was the happiest of em all. Well, you see…he’s the one forking out for the bills. With Streamyx, I could stay on the Internet as long as I’m able to stay awake and still only get billed what, RM88?

But when I was on dialup Internet I could rake in bills close to RM500 on mIRC alone. No blogs, no facebook whatchamacallits. Imagine me as the angry mySpace boy, but replace mySpace with mIRC. Every ticking second on the Internet was $$$. The parents actually confiscated my keyboard to no avail. But they managed to stopped me (albeit for a while) by taking away the CPU, lol.

Angry mySpace boy. Turn down your volume and if you’re on dial-up, don’t bother clicking play.

So yeah, I can say that Streamyx played an active role in preventing me from turning into a family-hating, internet-addicted delinquent. Except for the occasional down times, I’ve been pretty happy with their performance and have been a loyal customer since forever.

Recently, Streamyx has decided to come out with better broadband packages for us called Streamyx Combo. Now, if you subscribed to one of Streamyx Combo packages, you could save between RM10 – RM133 every month!!! This is because, all of the packages are inclusive of FREE TM Homeline rental fees. In a nutshell, your phoneline will be free of charge lah.

Everyone with a fixed TM line can subscribe to Streamyx Combo and start saving some moolah, including us existing Streamyx users. Just register via any TMpoint outlets or Streamyx authorised resellers.

Faster and cheaper Internet for all. W00t!
