Fidani’s chocolate factory tour.

October 8th, 2008 » 645 views

Got a little sidetracked by Sisi and I totally forgot about blogging about this amazing day. We were invited to Fidani’s chocolate factory by the hotness that is EiLing.

Fidani’s chocolate products are made from ingredients imported from Belgium and high grade 100% cocoa butter. Their counters are available at Genting Highlands (First World Hotel), KLCC, KLIA, Penang Airport, Kota Kinabalu airport, Langkawi Airport and Kuching Airport.

It was my first time visiting a chocolate factory and you can imagine how excited I was. The tour started with a chocolate binge. Yeah, you hear me. We were treated to a sumptuous spread of pralines that were so goooood. They were high quality chocolate pralines, truffles and many more.

Halfway through breakfast, we were introduced to Chef Ameer, the head honcho of factory who gave us a very interesting presentation about chocolates. I thought I know my chocolates but I learnt so much from the presentation. It has successfully put me off from any confectionary chocolate.

Then it’s time for the highlight of the day! Apparently we were the first people to be given a glimpse of the factory’s operation and I can see why invites are far and few - hygiene is top concern here. All the staff were in sterile coats, hairnets, masks, gloves and shoe covers. We were also required to wear hair nets and the sterile coats.

Nice garb
It’s hard to look good in clothes like this. But no matter, I’m willing as long as I don’t find people’s pubes in my dessert.

We were shown the day to day process of making gourmet chocolates. All the chocolates were hand-made and also wrapped individually by hand! Pretty impressive stuff.

My favourite part of the day was making my own block of dark chocolate. I’m so glad Fidani gave us this opportunity, it was really fun!

Before we left, we were treated to another round of chocolate tasting. This time some new crunchies that Fidani is coming out with. They’re not even out in the market yet, so stay tuned. We had fresh durian chocolates too of course :)

We went home satiated with paperbags filled with 6 or 7 boxes of premium chocolates thanks to Fidani. My stash disappeared within days…
