It Starts in Me

12 Dec

“It starts in me”. There is nothing simple about the simple phrase.

Many of us cruise through our lives so comfortably that we eventually lose touch of things that make us feel alive. Some people skyjump to feel alive. Some people help others to feel so. Bottomline is, everything starts in us. Yes, it starts in me.

I was delighted when Shine 0% Fat Drinking Yogurt started a campaign called “Project Start in Me” to inspire us to get off our sluggish backs and do something. You know, things that we have been dreaming of doing but constantly put off by excuses like lack of funds, lack of time, too old and etc.

Well, now that Dutch Lady’s Shine has promised to give out prizes worth up to RM55,000 and a chance to be one of 2009 Shine Personalities in order for you to reach your dreams, I say why not? When funding is not a problem, nothing else is. Time? Make it! Youth? Live it!

So many people have submitted so many air balloons and it’s really enjoyable to look through them one by one. My favourite 5 of the balloons are these:

#1 – Chen
Chen
Chen who aspires to operate a home where orphans and old folks could stay together and look be the light of each other’s life. Sounds like a great idea.

#2 – Alina Alin
Alina Alin
Alina Alin, who aspires to help her boyfriend to open a goat farm! Young people who are entrepreneurial gets my vote.

#3 – Abby Low
Abby Low
Abby Low, who aspires to work for wild liveswildlife, environment and the great outdoors. Personally, I think we need more people like Abby cause there are too many lazy bums like me, hehe.

#4 – TinyTerrer
TinyTerrer
TinyTerrer wants to help children with Autism. I think it’s such a beautiful and selfless dream.

#5 – Faeza
Faeza
Faeza wants to publish a magazine for young women. It will be filled with information on the “real world” that a young woman ought to know. Brilliant!

I’ve submitted a dream too. Ever since I’ve gotten a pet, I’ve finally understood what other pet owners are going through. It becomes so hard to keep your pet at home alone because you don’t want it to feel lonely and neglected. So, I’ve always hoped for a directory that tells me about pet friendly places and restaurants and I couldn’t find one. Well, perhaps I should start one, so I could educate people about the importance of picking up your dog’s droppings, things like that.

#6 – Kimcun
Kimcun
Basically, it details how I want to be a proper dog lady :)

Anyway, 10 finalists have already been selected to be in the running of winning prizes worth up to RM55,000 and becoming one of 2009 Shine Personalities.

10 finalists.

You can help them win by voting for them at the website. Before you can do that though, you have to:

1. Purchase a Shine’s product to get a unique code from the on-pack sticker.
2. Register yourself at Shine’s Project It Starts in Me and key in the unique code (one unique code entitles you to two votes).
3. Answer a simple question and vote for your favourite video!

For instance, say I want to vote for all 10 videos above. So I’ll be buying 10 bottles of Shine 0% fat drinking yogurt in order to obtain 10 unique codes, which is equivalent to 20 votes…so I could vote twice for each video. That said, you could vote a specific video as many times as you want as long as you get more unique codes from your Shine’s product.

On top of that, for four weeks, a person who has voted the most will be chosen every weekly to win RM1000 shopping voucher. In the fifth week though, the prize is RM5000 for the person who has voted the most.

So you’re not just helping your favourite dreamer to achieve his or her dreams, you’re also in the running for some sweet shopping vouchers and cash.

Go vote for your favourite video/aspiration at Shine’s Project It Starts in Me!

If Abby Low is concerned about “wild lives” then she’d be better off in Hollywood rather than the great outdoors where wildlife abound ;)

    Great blog BTW!
