What does fashion mean to you?

What is fashion to you? For me, it’s not about the latest trend or the most expensive shoes on the shelf. The following sums up what fashion means to me…
1. To me, every item that I wear out is a fashion statement. It tells a little about who I am as a person.
For instance, my regular fashion statement is an old school Casio G-shock watch that I almost never leave home without. Not that I can’t afford something more elegant but why kid myself? I’m not the most elegant person I know hehe. The watch basically sums up how I am as a person – no nonsense, pragmatic and confident.
When I say confident, I mean confident because I even had the cheeks to wear it with an elegant dress ;)
2. Fashion to me is about uniqueness.
Such as my latest acquisition, my spectacles. I love them because they’re so big I can see everything without the frame obstructing my view but at the same time, I love the way the glasses seems to suspend on the sides. Perhaps having a fashion statement that spells “Chicken Little” isn’t exactly the most fashionable thing to do but I love its quirkiness! And because I also think I’m rather quirky, it also satisfies reason number one above ;)
I can see clearly now.
3. Fashion to me is about playing a role. Fun is the F in fashion (TM)
Sometimes I feel like a hard-edge librarian. Sometimes I feel like a vulnerable princess. Sometimes I feel like a rocker. Fashion is all about role-playing and having fun. It totally changes my state of mind too whenever I’m dressed for the emotions.

Since we’re on the topic of fashion, and you’re still reading….I will be giving away drink vouchers to the first 15 commentors of this blog post for FASHIONISTA, a swanky party organised by The Horeca School of Excellence (HSE). There will be a runway show featuring designs from local brands and you can enjoy the fabulous fashion show while sipping delicious signature cocktails made by International Mixologists like Chanond (Thailand), Maja (Sweden) and Lisa (Sweden).
And then when the dusts have settled, you can ruffle em up again by dancing to great House/Trance music.
