It’s amazing how stupid the ads that are dominating the airwave nowadays.
Have you heard of the latest anti-smoking ad?
It involves a microphone lamenting about the smelly mouths that use it.
Pop quiz: Does anyone give a fuck about whether the microphone smells you?
How about the anti-piracy ad?
You know, the whole ad that was repeated to show how annoying it is being copied.
You know, the one that prompts you to switch to another station the moment it comes on air.
Get this, piracy occurs because people are essentially selfish. They won’t stop buying pirated goods suddenly just because they feel sorry for the owners.
Conscience is not gained overnight and definitely not from a radio ad.
How about telling them how piracy is crippling affected industries and how it funds more crime that will affect the buyers eventually? Or go the greenies way, no music or movies for your grandkids in the future.
How about educating people instead?
Beats me how on earth Malaysians are thought to be compassionate towards dead objects (ie: microphones) .
I dislike that anti-piracy ad, hence I can’t relate to it….

Gov’t ads have never been shall we say, good? Never have been never will be. Another stupid ad is the Proton Savvy, saying how strong it is….it makes no sense, just plain stupid….the ad gave me the impression that the car handles so bad that you’ll crash it but its ok cause it is build strong, duh….or savvy owners on finding out how bad the car is, will commit suicide crashing the car…but its ok couse it is strong…..what car manufacturer does that kind of promotion…totally stupid….no logic, just plain cowboy. I thought they’d try the crime thingy before. One the way is telling them Thailand and Singapore will enjoy more concerts from artist because artist come to your place for their musical tour base on the sales of their CD.

The latest Anti-smoking ad on radio is even worse. It’s got a talking cigarette going, “blablabla… something something… blablabla… I give them cancer too!”
Made me wanna light up a cigarette. So much for anti-smoking.
