With Johor alone bringing in the most tourism dollars than all the states combined (mainly Singapore dollars). It’s perfectly alright for a Malaysian to bash Singaporeans. Bite the hand that feeds.

admin: that’s the biggest load of shit I’ve ever heard, huney.

In nature of good bilateral ties between neighbours, such social comments are uncalled for. I hope that between neighbouring countries, such uncouth and uncivic comments would cease. On my part, I apologize for calling you an ignorant bigot. Which is totally uncalled for.

“The top five Visa spending countries of orgin in Malaysia in 2003 were Singapore (RM 680 milion, equivalent to US $179 million), the United Kingdom (RM 331 million, equivalent to US $87 million), the United States (RM 200 million, equivalent to US $53 million), Japan (RM 179 million, equivalent to US $47 million), and Australia (RM 141 million, equivalent to US $37 million)”

Number 1: I apologise for calling you an anonymous, balless idiot, which I admit had been triggered by your crude name calling on your part first.

Number 2: I beg you to point out which part of my post sounds uncouth and uncivic to you.

Number 3: Johor DOES NOT earn more than other 12 states combined. Selangor is the richest state and Kuala Lumpur’s foreign tourism dollars alone surpased Johor’s (Source: Tourism Malaysia).

Number 4: On your curt remark, “bite the hand that feeds”? I’m sorry but I don’t think I’ll go into a ramble on how much loss my country has incurred when it comes to water, traffic summons and subsidised petrol, among others. Or that Malaysia recorded a GDP of RM248.06 billion in 2005 (Source: Malaysian Industrial Development Authority) that would mean Singaporean tourism dollars ON CREDIT only make up about 0.0027% of that. In additional, Malaysia contributes S$174.3 million (USD$106 mil) in tourism dollars annually to this country (Source: Singapore Tourism Board).

Number 5: For the sake of good bilateral ties between neighbours, I hope you will accept that such back and forth jesting will never end between these two countries. I’ll suggest you to take any banter in stride as a good first step.

All that tells me is that Singaporeans use their Visa cards more than others. It doesn’t mean that Malaysia is solely dependant on Singapore tourist spending.

The Visa numbers are probably inflated by Singaporeans using their credit cards to fill up with subsidised Malaysian petrol, possibly indicating that Singaporeans are cheapskates when it comes to spending for essentials, and thereby reinforcing the “kiasu Singaporean” tag.

You can always make numbers say what you want them to say.

    admin: Can’t agree more.
