On handling molestation - Is mass stupidity going to get us?

Faced with the enormity of mass stupidity, what can a person do but hope that at the end of the day, it’s just a joke masterminded by the right hand man of anonymity. Because it’s really scary to think that so many people are genuinely challenged up there. I’m not saying I’m hell of a smart woman, because I’m not, otherwise I won’t be driving myself nuts over a presentation tomorrow. But truly, power in the mass, power in the mass stupidity?

If this does not sound racist to you, I don’t know what does. Maybe calling a certain race as pigs does. Oh yeah, she did that already too.

Personally I have been groped four times and flashed at twice. Everytime, the bastards managed to run away or dissappeared into some back alleys. All those times I had been either alone or with friends. Being violated like that is traumatising, frustrating and enraging.

However, I don’t understand how on earth by zeroing on a particular race is going to help anything? For all I know, you’re just telling people that yes, this particular group cannot molest, but others can. And how on earth by banning foam spray is going to achieve anything? For one they might just spill water on a girl to distract her and will you petition for banning of drinks then?

There are better ways to do things, for instance start with requesting for more police patrol from Singapore’s esteemed police force (Malaysia police force should take note too). Having more cops around also allow girls to report to the cops present immediately after the incident, hence easier for them to find the perpetrator(s) and shorten the time for girls to develop hesitance on reporting the embarrasing incidents.

Girls must also learn to be more alert during these sort of events. You simply can’t expect that banning of a certain race or a party item will prevent you from getting molested in a crowded place! It’s not just unfeasible, it’s also bordering foolishness. Here’s an interesting article about a reformed serial molester who is now making a living teaching women how to prevent getting groped. I’m also in great favour of registering sexual offenders. There are also helpful tips from these articles on tips for women travellers.

People must understand that molestation is a character flaw and it’s not exclusive to any race. Really, there are better ways to handle this despicable behaviour and what Xiaxue is doing, well good luck to her and erm, everyone.

? I don’t get the excerpt. Goodness, do i have to go to her blog and read it just to know what you’re talking about…………?

admin: heh, ok babe, it’s fair to spare you from the torment, lol. basically she called Blangladeshis as banglas, then proceeded to insinuate that Bangladeshis are molesters. Then for some reason, she called for a petition to ban party foam spray, as apparently it’s some sort of weapon used by molestors. As always, she edited and reedited her entry, however the damage has been done- many of her impressionable readers have decided that molestors in Singapore are made up of Bangladeshis. Something like that.

You’re right, it’s not fair to condescend or discriminate.

However I would like all women to be wary of all shifty-looking people (construction or otherwise) in big groups leering at you. Especially since they have had little or no contact with women for some time. Keep away from them. If you’re going to dress sexy, don’t be a pseudo-feminist and insist it’s all the man’s fault if he does anything stupid. Save that for your term paper and karangan. Just get someone to drive you straight from home to the clubs or restaurants and don’t walk too far.

And if that’s racist, I don’t give a crap. Just don’t get hurt.

admin: yeap, i agree with you. it’s better to be practical.

Yeah, you might probably get molested by oily jerks (and not even notice it because of the all the people squeezed together) at the clubs too, but that’s the risk you knowingly take when you go clubbin’ in the first place, being in dark and crowded places. Or, ahahaha, as FS pointed out, get molested on the pretext of being drunk.

admin: i do think being alert helps a lot. that’s why drunks chicks tend to get molested, even by their own “friends”.

Who are you to judge on what is happening in another country that is not yours?

    Weird.

It is none of your business and besides, your readership is so pathetically low that nobody really gives a shit about what you think.

admin: you just gave a shit ;)

I’m having a good time reading the articles that you linked up. =D Girls should be more alert towards their surroundings, yes.
