There’s a new aggregator in town and it’s called SpyMy. Can I say it’s the best thing ever?
The general idea is to browse through articles at the queued page (where it houses articles that people have submitted) and when you find an article that you like, you click “Spy It” as in vote it. With enough votes from everybody else, it will be promoted to the main page (basically a page that houses the creme de la creme).
I’ll always love PPS, but frankly, lately it’s just been saturated with copy & paste tech blogs and ad blogs. It’s becoming a chore just to browse through the pings and heaven knows how many quality pings have been knocked out by those unrelenting lousy pings. Heard Aizuddin is going to revamp PPS soon. I think that’s wonderful news!
I’ve tried BlogsMalaysia too, but yikes, here’s the rundown, I browse the net at least 3 times a day, everyday. I seriously don’t have the patience to wait for a bunch of people to discuss numerous submissions, vote them and then publish. Heck, I don’t even want to begin on the self-serving, ego-inflated, no-post-is-ever-good-enough-for-me kind of editors (not all, just a few). Here’s a suggestion, you’re still new, don’t be a chooser, don’t be an elitist, just publish every remotely interesting post to build up the fanbase.
SpyMy has found the perfect time to come into the picture. Since reading it on Jeff’s and Mack’s, I’ve become a member and I’ve been submitting and voting for the posts I like and it’s great to see them get promoted to the main page. Seriously, I’ve never read so many good articles in such a short span of time. The best thing is I still get to read posts that were never promoted, at my own prerogative! Just imagine over at BlogsMalaysia, how many quality submissions have been ignored/discarded/neglected just because they’re not up to some editors’ standards?
I say, let yourself choose what you like.
I must point out though, for a first timer, it’s kind of a culture shock to see something like SpyMy. I had no friggin idea how it works. It’s apparently similar to Digg (thanks to SpyMy, I’ve found a gem such as Digg, haha), which is a tech stories aggregator. The FAQ is pretty comprehensive and clear though. Am happy to say I’m using it like a pro now, hehehe.
Thank you, founders of SpyMy. Power to the people, w00t!
