Entering a new phase in life.

Finally, I’ve received the long awaited e-mail. I will face the final interview that will end my unemployment once and for all, or not. Am I nervous? Yes, a little.

Taking on this job would mean a lot of changes to my life. I would be uprooted from my comfort zone and hurled into an environment that I won’t necessarily enjoy (that said, of course I will try my best). What is youth, if not for a period to shape my future into something slightly more tolerable. What is youth, if not for the opportunities to tame my fickleness and to cultivate my patience. What is youth, if not for taking advantage of my reckless confidence to network.

Unfortunately, already I’ve had a few buckets of cold water thrown my way. They mainly pertained to my choice of career; namely suggestions that I’m shortchanging my capabilities and unfounded assumptions about the job. At times I am tempted to ask these people who, ironically are the ones that whine no to no end about their own jobs- what exactly qualifies them to question my choice. However, I refrain. There will be no good out of being defensive even when you have all the rights to it.

Being permanently employed would be a milestone and an achievement for me, and noone can take that away from me. In the end, the best part of this journey was discovering that my pillars of strength turn out to be the very people that I care most about, they whose opinions I hold very high regards too. My family have never been more supportive and the boyfriend has just simply been wonderful.

Teh tarik on me if everything goes well.

hmmm…if i guessed correctly (what job you applied for), i know why people question that choice of career. if i guessed correctly lah! because i applied for a job at the same time as you, didn’t KNOW that they asked me for an interview (email also arrived early february) until AFTER the interview was conducted on 19th Feb. so sad! it was a chance for me to do what i WANT to do…not doing it for what my parents want me to do.
i would have to wait for the next time…before it’s too late! job satisfaction is more important when you’ve got no commitments…so you can still go around trying what’s best/what you want.
    all the best!!!
