I came home last weekend. Ate A LOT. Had so much fun. Went grocery shopping with BF. It’s one of the things I miss most doing with him. It was horrible to leave home again.
Work is drainning. Why can’t people just be regular people? Isn’t so much easier that way?

Imposing some control on the Internet media will not make the medium less popular, but rather give it credibility, Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin said.
My ass. What credibility? You say only, Datuk.
He said the mainstream media had gained credibility because of the laws making them responsible for what they published.
“We need to have a similar form of control over the Internet media and blogs, as the medium is used to spread unfounded allegations that posed a threat to national security and racial unity,” he said.
I don’t know where his sources come from, as far as I’m concerned, the Internet has given the Government more opportunities to improve itself as it’s able to hear the grouches and complaints of its people. Why want to shut people up? You shut us up, then how you know what is going on? Then tell me, mr. government how on earth are you going to improve?
He said some websites and blogs had touched on Islam and Malay rights, which threatened harmony in multi- racial Malaysia.
If left uncontrolled, the medium could be used as a tool to disturb the peace and stability in the country.
This is really hard to stomach lah. All these times, since way before merdeka, we also live with the government’s ridiculously unfair treatment to the non-Moslems. Sure, there are some who are of course damn peeved and complained here and there. Also got people want to do the petition lah this lah that lah reform lah, but mostly they went unheard and forgotten and we get on with our lives. We never ever once threatened to assimilate or destroy what special rights and all lah. All we want is, to be treated slightly better, maybe better discounts for house, fair university placements and all but that also not coming, also nevermind! NEVERMIND. OK, LIFE GOES ON. I LOVE MALAYSIA. I LOVE MSIA SO MUCH THAT I DON’T WANT TO BE HERE IN THIS OTHER COUNTRY EVENTHOUGH IM BEING PAID RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. I EVEN WANT TO INHALE MALAYSIA’S HAZE (although technically from sumatra, don’t care lah as long as in our atmosphere)
But why, put the blame on us AGAIN? WTF have you any friggin idea how many websites are there by local malaysians who are bend on assimilating non-Moslems? Do you know how many? Let me tell you, ONE IS TOO MANY. But no, you never issued warning against these extremists. I highly suspect this is the case because YOU, MY DEAR GOVERNMENT ISN’T THAT DUMB AFTERALL. YOU DO KNOW THAT WE WOULD BRUSH OFF THOSE SITES AS NOTHING BUT PASSING STINKING FARTS IN MALAYSIAN AIR. YOU DO KNOW THAT NOTHING DRASTIC WILL COME OUT OF THOSE extremist sites.
But then, you warn people who discuss about secular issues and government’s shortcomings and you clump them into one category of nutcases “supposedly” against Islam and Malay rights. I’m sorry, they don’t exist. AND WE BLOGGERS KNOW ALL TOO WELL.
My dear government, here you are using religion again to achieve your unpopular, selfish, self-serving goal. You’re no different, no different from those that the world is loathing now. Sure, shut us up. Whatever, I don’t care. I just hope that you, my dear government know that it’s a terribly vicious cycle.

They have narrow mind. And self protect. Simply because they know, they won’t stand a chance in the fair platform.

It is an interesting comment from the Minister.
How is the controlling to be done? It will cost a lot of money and the effect could be dubious. if let say they ban the word inter-faith, for example, the Minister would have censored his fellow minister, Syed Hamid, who delivered a wonderful sppech on inter-faith issue in CYPRUS

“STATEMENT BY THE HONOURABLE DATO’ SERI SYED HAMID ALBAR MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, MALAYSIA
AT THE OPENING OF THE SECOND ASEM INTERFAITH DIALOGUE
LARNACA, CYPRUS
3 JULY 2006
INTERFAITH UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION FOR A PEACEFUL WORLD
Excellency Mr. Tassos Papadopoulos, President of the Republic of Cyprus, Excellency Mr. Yiorgos Lillikas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus Distinguished Participants Ladies and Gentlemen
I am pleased, at the outset, to convey, on behalf of the members of my delegation and I, our sincere appreciation and gratitude to His Excellency Mr. Tassos Papadopoulos, his Government and the people of the Republic of Cyprus for hosting the Second ASEM Interfaith Dialogue and for the warm reception and generous hospitality on this beautiful island. We also wish to express our congratulations to our host country for the smooth and efficient organisation of this Meeting.”
blah, blah, blah.

HOW COME WE CAN TALK OUTSIDE M’SIA BUT CANNOT TALK INSIDE M’SIA?
I am confused. The above appeared in the government website. Our mainstream newspapaer did not give the Foreign Minister due credit for delivering a great progressive speech.

improve? I don’t think I read that word anywhere in the article. All I understand is the gov is doing what they do best since many years ago. Protecting their rights. Shut all truth away from public. Debate about stupid things when what’s more important to be debated is left out or take years to be discussed thus we suffer and they live happily every after. Couple of days ago, I read somewhere in the papers and it goes something like ‘No cencorship in the internet’ and now, it’s all about stopping blogers posting nothing but the truth. And, now, WALLA! we are being threaten ONCE AGAIN (BY OUR VERY OWN LOVELY GOV.). How nice of them to think about us bloggers.
I think we will still be a third world country even after the 9th MP, if the mentality of our ‘lovely’ gov. continues to be the way they are today (and i doubt they change at all). The future looks bleak.
Honestly, I find blogs rather interesting to read than the papers. I rest my case.
