Will you check into this hotel?

I had two glasses of tea for supper and now I can’t sleep. Tried to blog about my trip to Tokyo but it’s so long I gave up midway. I will endeavor to finish the post later. Anyway, I came across a list of the dirtiest hotels in America. Although I won’t be going to U.S again for some time, it’s still a handy list to have.

There are several things that I take into account when it comes to choosing hotels: ghosts, crime rate, windows and hygiene…..not ranked in order of importance. Reading through the list really cracked me up. If you’re trying to check into a hotel which forces you to sign a waiver saying that you will not get your money back once you entered the room, will you still proceed to check in? I don’t think so, right?

My wife and I stayed at the Tropicana Hotel on Saturday, September 23, 2006. When we checked into the hotel we had to sign a waiver saying that we would not get our money back once we entered the room. When we got to the room the door was already open and it was very hard to shut. The entire room was damp and smelled terrible. In the bathroom there was mold on the shower curtain, dirt on the floor and in the cracks of the wall, and there were fixtures broken off of the wall. In the room there were large cob webs, bugs crawling on the ceiling, and the carpet made the bottom of our feet brown. The drawer to the cabinet that the t.v. was on was broken as well. Later that night we looked at the sheets and they had stains on them and looked and smelt like they had been slept in.

Unfortunately, there are still people who would go ahead and check into such hotels. It’s not exactly a bad thing though, because these people will get to tell us their rotten experience and warn us ahead. This website in particular, gathers genuine reviews from real hotel guests so you can always run a check on the hotel you’re planning to book.

I stayed in the Millennium Biltmore when I was in Los Angeles. It’s a nice looking architecture, a historical hotel. Thank goodness, in spite of being a relatively old hotel it was spanking clean. I had a corner room then, and there was a mysterious door in my room which was locked. I was kind of spooked out by the extra door but tried to push it to the back of my mind by overdosing on Jerry Springer. Upon checking on TripAdvisor, as I’ve expected there were both negative and positive reviews. But I’m glad none of the reviews mentioned anything about ghosts.

Guess I was just being paranoid.

Executive Inn, Owensboro KY: turned sheets down and what scurried across the pillow: a mouse, yes a mouse. I freaked. My husband & I left that place and WILL NEVER return. In fact, I am still suffering from the stress of that “almost” stay. Please urge all you know to stay clear of this place. I will never be the same.
