Why I love PPP.

I’ve been checking my emails everyday. EVERYDAY and for every 10 minutes whenever I was at my desk. Why? One email.

“YOUR BLOG HAS BEEN APPROVED”

My fingers trembled as I moved the cursor towards the subject. I clicked and out popped a window informing that I have been “accepted”. My heart screamed in glee and I voraciously logged onto the website. Simply known as PPP, ah, it has become one of those acronyms that no longer needs any introduction.

Long story shortened, I registered myself with PayPerPost a couple of days ago (heaven knows, it felt like an eternity) and my blog has just gotten approved today. PPP is one of the hottest topics on the blogosphere now. I was also tuned into the story, and then it got me. I itched, longed to be accepted into the fraternity.

Fusing blogging and marketeers together has been a relatively ancient idea but nobody has been able to perfect the fusion, till PPP arrived at the click of our mouses. It transforms the placing of ads on blogs from being an annoying sight to readers into something seamlessly informative. What can I say, it’s just too pleasant!

So, having just got approved I was excited to contribute my first post. I clicked through Open Opportunities, searching for the subject that is to be featured on my first PPP post. It has to be (1) interesting (2) fun to write (3) definitely has to be special. And of course, to earn some bucks on the side while blogging it isn’t a bad idea at all.

Not at all!

I saw a lot of interesting topics but alas….I settled on this one. So tell me, what is a better topic to blog about than to blog about how much I love PPP???

I love PPP cause it lets me do what I love.

Sorry, I’m not a fan. Too many blogs descended into really bad advertorials about products the blogger had never heard of before finding out they could make money off of it, and (more importantly) never used.

I think it’s a fucked up idea - if my co. ever paid for this kinda mindless ineffective advertising I’d shoot them with a BB gun until they died writhing in agony.

And you’re wrong, it’s so much MORE irritating than google ads on blogs. Why? Because you think you’re coming to a site to read content, but actually it’s just ALL FREAKING ADVERTISING for a product the blogger isn’t even passionate about.

admin: wait a sec, but i do love PPP. to begin with, the idea is to get bloggers who are passionate about the product/service to blog about it. your point noted, still you can’t brush off this group of bloggers. so, i disagree with it as a mindless ineffective advertising.

sure enough there are the money grubbing dumbasses who will write for the sake of the money, but i believe their passion (or lackthereof) will show on the posts and they wont get paid in the end anyway. so heaven forbids that will wean them off this pretty cool marketing model.

speaking of which, what do you call a bitch who laments about the tragedy of moneyminded no-lifers but owns a make$ money$ website herself?

You may be right that that is the objective of PPP, but the actuality is that the ALL the posts I have read for PPP so far (excepting the ones that are about PPP itself) have been one or two paragraph advertorials about a website or product that the blogger has obviously not ever used before. And yes, I am also talking about the woman in the malaysian blogosphere who is the PPP queen - she definitely has been paid for it.

The “review a product you love” marketing model has been around for much longer than PPP and has been done much more effectively on other sites like Ciao and Epinions - the difference being you actually have had to USE a product before you review it. If you read some of the reviews on that site you will see what I mean by the difference in quality. No, I’m not saying Epinions or Ciao is perfect - but at least when you go there you know you are reading reviews - not advertisements.

And are you talking about me in the last paragraph? I don’t own any money making websites - I wrote on Eps because I used to like the people that reviewed there, and I never made any money off of it (my current balance is less than $100 which means it cannot be withdrawn).

In any case, I have no problems with people who own money making websites - you should see how much I spend on Ebay and I have bought many things from independent websites online (heck I say more power to google ads too, though I don’t use them). What I do have a problem with is clicking on a much-loved blog thinking I am going to read a blog post and ending up reading an advertorial for a product the blogger has never used before.

admin: i agree with you, i wouldn’t be happy about reading something that a blogger blogs for money and has no clue about. but alas i still like PPP because of its simplicity and straightforward system. i suppose from a reader’s point of view, there is really hardly benefit at all, heck i think all readers would rather have zero advertising on their fav sites whether they’re googleads, eps or ppp. that said, ppp is a pleasant, stressless system for leisure bloggers…..other side of the coin (havent we been focusing too much on the readers welfare??), given they remain so as leisure blogger =)

and, last paragraph is certainly not you!
